Classic Mario and Link join Medicom Ultra Detail figure range

Medicom are preparing the release of some new Super Mario Bros and Legend of Zelda figures this year. Rather than basing these new lines purely on modern interpretations of the characters, Medicom will also be releasing classic interpretations of Mario and Zelda based on the art featured in the manuals of the original NES releases.

Included in the range are the classic Link, Wind Waker Link, Tanooki Mario and SMB1 Mario.

Best of all, these figures are dirt cheap at just 730 yen from AmiAmi and will be available in January 2013.

First4Figures reveals Ganondorf statue

First4Figures has revealed the latest addition to their range of The Legend of Zelda themed statues – the series’ main antagonist, Ganondorf.

Two editions of the statue are being produced: an exclusive edition for $US479.99 and a standard edition for $US449.95.

Orders for the exclusive edition will close this week, while orders for the standard will close at the end of the month, so get in fast.

Gordon Freeman action figure coming this September from NECA

The silent hero of the Half-Life series, Gordon Freeman, will be available in action figure form this September, courtesy of NECA.

The figure will set you back $US18, and has twenty points of articulation, a crowbar, gravity gun and a head crab.

Play Arts Kai Solid Snake now available

Konami and Square Enix have teamed up to produce more Play Arts Kai toys in celebration of Metal Gear’s 25th anniversary, which will be celebrated this July.

The Cyborg Ninja was the first cab off the rank – now the second figure in the range, the MGS1 Themed Solid Snake is available. You can order it from AmiAmi for 4390 yen.

More MGS-themed Play Arts figures are planned for the year, including Meryl Silverburgh, Solidus Snake and the MGS4 Raiden.

Again, we apologise for the bad lighting, but we wanted to show the actual item off.

Play Arts Kai Cyborg Ninja now available

As part of the celebrations for the 25th anniversary of the Metal Gear series this year, Konami and Kojima Productions have been working with Square Enix to produce figures of the most popular characters from the series.

The first figure, the Cyborg Ninja/Gray Fox, is now available in Japan. You can get it for 4400yen from AmiAmi.

The lighting in this room is awful, but I figured you all might like to see the actual box and figure, rather than the same old promotional stills.

Rockstar to celebrate GTAIII 10th anniversary with iOS/Android port, Claude figure

Ten years ago, Grand Theft Auto III took the world by storm. For most, the game came out of nowhere – it seemed like there was little to no hype, the game’s E3 2001 appearance was sketchy, and the previous games, albeit hits, were not breakaway successes.

For a while, we were concerned that Rockstar would not do anything to celebrate the major milestone for the series which arguably put the company on the map and made them the major industry force that they are today.

First of all, the game is getting ported to iOS and Android devices. Whoopee!

More interesting is the 10th Anniversary limited edition figure of GTAIII‘s protagonist Claude. Sideshow Collectibles will be producing the figure, which is limited to 1,500 units and priced at $150. $150 bucks for a figure might seem crazy (and to most it is), but this is the usual price range from premium collectibles.
