CollectorVision to release Taito compilation for Colecovision
by Matt Keller on Jun.09, 2013, under News
The Colecovision had the misfortune of being released about a year before the bottom fell out of the North American video gaming market, so it missed out on a great many arcade ports. Over time, homebrew developers have sought to right this wrong by porting many arcade games to the console, including the Taito classics Lock n Chase, Chack n Pop, and Elevator Action.
CollectorVision has decided to bundle these three Taito classics together in a new compilation called Taito Legends. To sweeten the deal, they’re throwing in a fourth, previously unreleased game – Jungle King. The bundle will be available at a special price too.
For those that already own the previous releases, Jungle King will be available separately.
No price or release dates have been announced as yet.

by Matt Keller on Jun.07, 2013, under News
Last night OutRun fan TAGGSTA sent us a link to a little project he’d been working on.
A couple of weeks ago, TAGGSTA had created a scale model of the OutRun arcade cabinet.
Yesterday he completed a new version of his LEGO OutRun cab model – and this time, it’s running a playable version of Sega’s popular arcade game, courtesy of an iPhone 4 and the Mame4all emulator. It’s pretty damn cool if you ask us.

Double Dragon II: The Revenge available now on Japanese 3DS eShop
by Charly on Jun.02, 2013, under News
The classic side-scrolling beat’em up Double Dragon II: The Revenge was released on the Japanese 3DS eShop this week as part of the handheld’s Virtual Console service.
Released for the Famicom in 1989, the home version of Double Dragon II differs greatly from its arcade counterpart – featuring different level design, additional story sequences, a different final boss and a different ending.
The Virtual Console release supports Download Play, allowing two players to play co-op with a single copy of the game, and will set you back 500 yen. We hope to see the game outside of Japan in the near future.
Tales of Symphonia celebrates 10th anniversary with HD remaster
by Charly on Jun.02, 2013, under News
Yesterday, during the Tales of Festival, Hideo Baba announced that HD remasters of Tales of Symphonia and Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World are headed to the West in the form of Tales of Symphonia Chronicles (working title) for the PlayStation 3.
Tales of Symphonia, a favourite amongst Tales of fans, was originally released on the Nintendo GameCube back in 2004 (2003 in Japan) and marked the début of the series in PAL regions. Tales of Symphonia was followed up by Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World for the Nintendo Wii, a sequel which takes place a couple of years after the events of the first game.
Tales of Symphonia’s HD re-release will, however, be based on the Japanese exclusive PlayStation 2 version which included extra anime cut scenes, Mystic Artes for more characters, additional events and side-quests and a different theme song. The HD remasters will feature enhanced graphics and additional content including bonus Tales of the Abyss-themed costumes and new cut-ins for the Mystic Artes.
Tales of Symphonia Chronicles is set for release early next year (October 2013 for Japan). Here’s hoping we see a nice limited edition much like the one to be released in Japan which includes some figurines, a novel, and some really pretty packaging.
