The Forest Temple is the latest addition to GoldenEye 007 deathmatch
by Matt Keller on Jul.13, 2013, under News
A couple months back we ran a story on Peach’s Castle being ported across to GoldenEye 007 as a new deathmatch map. Well, the group behind that map has been hard at work bringing more maps across to GoldenEye 007, the latest of which is the Forest Temple from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
Sogun Studios have posted a blog entry detailing the process of bringing the map across.
The ROM patch, available here, also contains the previously released Kakariko Village and Peach’s Castle maps, in addition to the new Forest Temple map.
It’s time to make some crazy money on your Android with a port of Crazy Taxi
by Matt Keller on Jul.13, 2013, under News
Sega has been dragging its heels a bit on getting Crazy Taxi out for the Android, but you can grab it now from the Google Play store for $AU5.44.
There is at least one valid reason for this delay – Sega has added much needed controller support to this version, so you don’t have to wrestle ghastly touchscreen controls.
This version also features the original soundtrack from Bad Religion and The Offspring that has been missing from other recent ports.
Upcoming documentary “The Power of Glove” looks at the history and impact of the infamous NES peripheral
by Matt Keller on Jul.13, 2013, under News
The Power Glove promised a revolutionary method of control, where your actions could be replicated in the game. Of course, the promotional campaign completely overstated the capabilities of the device and many young NES owners were sorely disappointed with the end product. In spite of its failure to work as promised, the Power Glove has become iconic.
Filmmakers Adam Ward, Andrew Austin and Paula Kosowski have been working on a documentary called The Power of Glove. The film will have interviews with the creators of the Power Glove, along with an examination of the legacy of the peripheral and its fans, such as Isaiah “TriForce” Johnson.
The documentary does not have a release date as yet, but you can check out the official site now.
DuckTales Remastered for PS3 will be available at retail in North America
by Matt Keller on Jul.13, 2013, under News

Capcom has announced that they will be releasing a retail package for DuckTales Remastered. However, it’s only for the PS3 version, and only in North America at this stage.
The package will contain a download code for the game and a special collector’s pin. It’s also got pretty neat box art, too. It’ll set you back $US20, five bucks more than the standard digital copy.
DuckTales Remastered will be out on the PS3, PC and WiiU on August 13, and on Xbox 360 on August 20.

Video Game Ad of the Day: Game Gear TV Tuner
by Matt Keller on Jun.26, 2013, under Video Game Ad of the Day

The Game Gear TV Tuner is exactly what it says on the tin: a peripheral that lets you watch TV on your Game Gear. Well, it did – unless you’re living in one of the few regions of Australia where analogue TV is still broadcast, the device is pretty much useless now. Still, it was a neat idea.
Video Game Ad of the Day: Tail Concerto
by Matt Keller on Jun.25, 2013, under Video Game Ad of the Day

Tail Concerto is a pretty neat action-adventure released by Atlus in 1999. You play as an anthropomorphised dog who pilots a mech in his struggle against a race of evil cat people. Tail Concerto was not a hit on release, but gradually developed a cult following – enough for a spiritual sequel, Solatorobo: Red the Hunter to be made for the DS.
Cave Story comes to the Dreamcast
by Matt Keller on Jun.25, 2013, under News
The classic indie PC game Cave Story (or Doukutsu Monogatari) has been ported to the Dreamcast.
This has been made possible by a complete open-source rewrite of the game’s engine, known as NXEngine. The port does have a few issues, namely sound, but it’s still fairly functional. A self-booting ISO is available here.
It’s cool to see people still supporting the Dreamcast with quality homebrew ports.
Mega Man for Game Gear rated by ESRB, 3DS Virtual Console release incoming?
by Matt Keller on Jun.25, 2013, under News

Capcom has teasing more Mega Man games for Virtual Console, but their cover may have been blown by the ESRB, the North American video game rating board. The ESRB has issued a rating for the Game Gear version of Mega Man.
The Game Gear Mega Man is a bit of a mashup between Mega Man 4 and 5 on the NES, with a few adjustments made to fit it into the GG’s tiny screen area. The game wasn’t particularly warmly received upon release, but the relatively small print run and obsessive Mega Man fans’ tendency to disregard fiscal well-being has seen it skyrocket on eBay.
Expect to see an official announcement soon.
