Ruby Spears promo video shows completely different Mega Man cartoon

by on Feb.09, 2013, under News

Recently on our YouTube channel, we posted a video of the introduction to the 1995 Ruby Spears Mega Man cartoon. That series ran for two seasons, and tends to receive mixed feelings from fans whenever it’s brought up.

However, as the following video will show, the original plan for the show was way different.

The above video shows that the original plan for the cartoon was much more directly influenced by the Japanese interpretation of the character, showing off a version of the show that’s a lot more anime-like than the final product. Given that this promo video was boasting a 1994 date for the show, we can presume that it was all delayed for a year so that they could retool Mega Man to be what they thought would be more appealing to a North American audience.

bigcollection
Yep, it’s massive auction time once again.

This time, the seller has over 6,500 games and 330 consoles. He’s centered most of his attention on collecting for his favourite series, such as The Legend of Zelda, Final Fantasy, Castlevania and Metal Gear. There are all sorts of things collectors drool over, like sealed copies of Magical Chase, Metal Gear: Solid Snake for the MSX2, not one but four Steel Battalion controller sets, the Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles white GameCube and even a PCB for the cult-classic Strider-esque arcade game Osman.

You can find pictures of the collection here.

English versions of Ys IV to PSVita, Ys I & II Chronicles+ to PC

by on Feb.02, 2013, under News

ys4vita
XSEED has unveiled their plans for more Ys games in the coming months.

Ys: Memories of Celeta is a remake of Ys IV for the PlayStation Vita. Ys IV is one of the few remaining games in the series to not have seen an official English translation. Memories of Celeta is the third version of Ys IV, but the first to be developed by series creator Nihon Falcom.

PC fans will also be treated to some Ys loving with the release of Ys I & II Chronicles+. This is set to be a polished up version of the PSP release which came out in 2011, which was in turn a polished up version of the 2001 remake of the games for Windows. Yeah.

Each game will receive a digital and a physical release.

Bub and Bob plushies spied at London Toy Fair

by on Feb.01, 2013, under News

bubandbob
The heroes of the Bubble Bobble series (and assorted spin-offs), Bub and Bob, are set to be immortalised in plushie form, if eyewitness reports from the 2013 London Toy Fair are to be believed.

No details as yet beyond the fact that they’ll be manufactured by Together Plus, who’ve been doing all sorts of Mario merchandise as of late.

Model 2 Collection games Virtual-On and Virtua Striker not leaving Japan

by on Feb.01, 2013, under News

virtuastriker
You’d think in this day and age of digital goods and globalisation that everything would get released everywhere.

‘Fraid not.

Sega has decided not to release the Model 2 Collection games Cyber Troopers: Virtual-On and Virtua Striker outside of Japan, where they will be available together for ¥880 on PSN and 400 points on Xbox Live Arcade.

Of course you can get around that buy registering a Japanese account for either service and then buying region specific points. Something we should write a guide on one of these days.
