Just Add Water has released footage from the upcoming HD remake of Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee, subtitled New & Tasty Edition.

The game is set for release next year.

Some of you may have heard of a manga series called Aoi Sekai no Chuushin de (In the Centre of the Blue World), which is a reimagining of the 16-bit console war. The series tells the story of two kingdoms – the Segua Kingdom and the Nintenduro Empire, who are battling for control of the land of Consume. When the series begins, Segua is on the back foot, but the tide turns with the arrival of a kid named Gear, who boasts super speed. The series is written by Crimson and Anastasia Shestakova.

Like many popular mangas, the series is getting an animated television series which will start airing on Tokyo MX from October 20. Currently three episodes are slated to air – one in October and two next year. 5th Avenue is the studio in charge of production.

Medicom are preparing the release of some new Super Mario Bros and Legend of Zelda figures this year. Rather than basing these new lines purely on modern interpretations of the characters, Medicom will also be releasing classic interpretations of Mario and Zelda based on the art featured in the manuals of the original NES releases.

Included in the range are the classic Link, Wind Waker Link, Tanooki Mario and SMB1 Mario.

Best of all, these figures are dirt cheap at just 730 yen from AmiAmi and will be available in January 2013.

Warner Bros. has decided to make the most of their acqusition of Midway’s back catalogue by throwing 31 of Midway’s arcade classics into a new package called Midway Arcade Origins for release on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 later this year.

The games are: 720°, A.P.B., Arch Rivals, Bubbles, Championship Sprint, Cyberball 2072, Defender, Defender II, Gauntlet, Gauntlet II, Joust, Joust 2, Marble Madness, Pit-Fighter, Rampage, Rampart, Robotron 2084, Root Beer Tapper, Satan’s Hollow, Sinistar, Smash TV, Spy Hunter, Spy Hunter II, Super Off Road, Super Sprint, Toobin’, Total Carnage, Vindicators Part II, Wizard of Wor, Xenophobe, and Xybots.

Sound familiar? Almost all of these games can be found on the three Midway Arcade Treasures packages released on the PlayStation 2, Xbox, Gamecube and PC. Backbone is still listed as the developer of the new collection, so don’t go in expecting new and improved emulation.

One of video games’ greatest ongoing paternity issues has been settled. At least until Miyamoto changes his mind again.

In the latest issue of Game Informer, the magazine’s staff had the opportunity to ask Shigeru Miyamoto candid questions about the Super Mario Bros. series. One such question asked was regarding the relationship between the Koopalings and Bowser. They asked; “In Super Mario Bros. 3, the Koopalings were suppose to be Bowser’s children. But there’s also Bowser Jr. Are they all his kids, and are they all from different mothers? Is Bowser Jr. a Koopaling?”

Miyamoto’s response: “Our current story is that the seven Koopalings are not Bowser’s children. Bower’s only child is Bowser Jr. and we don’t know who the the mother is.”
