Space Quest II remake complete, now available

by on Jan.02, 2012, under News

Fan remakes of adventure games were a big thing back in the days before the genre was somewhat revived by Telltale and the like. Many of these projects were never fully realised, either stopped by cease and desist orders or by internal wrangling. Such things did not stop Infamous Adventures, however, as they have just released their loving recreation of Space Quest II after five years in development.

Done in a similar style to Sierra On-Line’s VGA remake of Space Quest, the game features vastly improved hand-drawn graphics, voice acting and a much improved interface.

Best of all, the game is available for free. You can download it here

Final Fantasy Tactics for iPhone out this week

by on Aug.02, 2011, under News

Square-Enix has announced via their Facebook page that the iPhone version of Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions will be available this Thursday for $US15.99. Quite a bit steeper than your usual 99 cent distractions. You’ll need a 3GS or better to play the game.

The game is not a universal app, so an iPad version will be coming out later in the year (at least one month later, according to SE).

Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions was developed for the PSP and released in 2007. It is a remake of the original Final Fantasy Tactics, released on the PlayStation in 1998. Apparently much of the slowdown from the PSP version of the game has been corrected, and an autosave function has been added (in case someone has the audacity to call you while you play games on your phone).

Operation Moonfall wants Majora’s Mask 3D

by on Aug.01, 2011, under News

Perhaps you’ve heard of Operation Rainfall, the letter writing campaign to get Nintendo of America to localise several Wii games. Following in its footsteps is Operation Moonfall, a new campaign which aims to get Nintendo to produce a 3D update of The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask.

The campaign appears to have been started by the fansite Zelda Universe after long time series producer Eiji Aonuma said that he was up for it. After the solid retail performance of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, it might actually become reality.

So if you want The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D to happen, contact Nintendo and tell them!

Preorder Persona 2 remake, get soundtrack

by on Aug.01, 2011, under News

The upcoming PSP remake of Persona 2: Innocent Sin will include a CD soundtrack in first print run copies, along with a nice outer box. Atlus USA representatives suggest preordering the game to ensure that you get the soundtrack, as supply will be limited. The game also features sunglasses-wearing Hitler, pictured above.

The soundtrack will include 10 tracks from the game’s musical score, composed by Shoji Meguro. The tracks will be a mix of original recordings, remixes and tracks not used in the game.

The Persona 2 story is covered by two different games – Innocent Sin, which was only released in Japan, and Eternal Punishment, which takes place in a parallel world where the events of Innocent Sin never happened.

Nintendo announced today that their upcoming remake of Star Fox 64 for the Nintendo 3DS will be released in Australia on September 15. North America and Europe will get the game a week earlier. The game was released this week in Japan.

Like Ocarina of Time 3D, Star Fox 64 3D boasts refreshed visuals, new controls, and of course, 3D display modes. It’s also, you know, the last decent Star Fox game.
