Like any big name film in the late 80s and early 90s, the Warren Beatty-led incarnation of Dick Tracy received multiple video game incarnations. This ad is for the NES one which is a totally different beast to the Sega published games, focusing more on being a gumshoe than gunning down gangsters.

Wordtris is an offshoot of Tetris designed by Alexey Pajitnov which features letters dropping down from the top of the screen which must be organised into words of three letters or more. Solid, but not as addictive as Tetris.

Captain America and the Avengers is a reasonably popular Data East-developed arcade beat ’em up. The home ports are, however, kind of sucky largely due to the limited capabilities of home consoles compared to the arcade board.

Aaahh!! Real Monsters was one of Nickelodeon’s most popular Nicktoons during the 1990s, so like many others, it endured the video game conversion treatment. It takes a bit of inspiration from The Lost Vikings, with the player controlling three characters (Ickis, Krumm and Oblina) with unique abilities required to traverse the game’s puzzling environments.
