Marvel vs. Capcom 2 coming to iOS this week
by Matt Keller on Apr.22, 2012, under News
You’ll be able to take your favourite Marvel and Capcom heroes for a ride on April 25th when Capcom releases Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes onto the App Store.
Nothing has been said regarding pricing or features though, so you’ll probably have to wait until the game is released to find that stuff out.
One would presume that this release is on feature parity with other recent releases of the game. We’re also praying that the game has iCade support, given the notoriously awful control schemes featured in Capcom’s other iOS fighters.
Capcom want fan submissions for Street Fighter’s 25th anniversary
by Charly on Apr.20, 2012, under News
With Street Fighter celebrating its 25th anniversary later this year, Capcom is requesting fan submissions of art and music for future use in the commemorations.
Capcom have said that they are “planning some pretty cool stuff†for the upcoming anniversary and they want Street Fighter fans to get involved. Through either celebratory fan art focusing on reflection and nostalgia or a music piece (remix or new creation), fans have the chance for their contribution to be “immortalised” as part of the Street Fighter tribute.
Capcom has promised to reveal their plans for the anniversary celebrations (which includes a tournament) closer to time.

New artbook details the creation Street Fighter X Tekken’s Mega Man
by Matt Keller on Apr.12, 2012, under News
Whether you think it was a neat tribute or a cruel joke, the “classic” interpretation of Mega Man featured in Street Fighter X Tekken happened.
A new book, Street Fighter X Tekken Artworks features a detailed breakdown of many of the different concepts that were devised during the creation of the game. The book is currently only available in Japanese, but there’s a remote chance that it might see an English release through Udon like many of Capcom’s other artbooks.
However, if you can’t wait until them, the Mega Man Network has posted a few scans from the book.
Video Game Ad of the Day: Street Fighter II: Special Champion Edition
by Matt Keller on Mar.31, 2012, under Video Game Ad of the Day
Street Fighter II: Special Champion Edition is a Mega Drive specific version of Street Fighter II that encompasses both Street Fighter II: Champion Edition and Street Fighter II: Hyper Fighting. Playing the game without a six button controller was something of an exercise in annoyance, as you’d have to switch between kicking and punching moves with the start button, leaving you unable to pause the action.
Video Game Ad of the Day: Saturday Night Slam Masters
by Matt Keller on Mar.28, 2012, under Video Game Ad of the Day
Saturday Night Slam Masters is kind of a weird foot note in the history of Capcom fighting games. It’s a combination of a fighting game and a wrestling game with characters designed by Fist of the North Star mangaka Tetsuo Hara. Also, it has Haggar.
Video Game Ad of the Day: Capcom vs. SNK 2: EO
by Matt Keller on Mar.16, 2012, under Video Game Ad of the Day
Capcom vs. SNK 2: EO is an enhanced port of Capcom vs. SNK 2: Mark of the Millennium 2001 / Millionaire Fighting 2001 for the GameCube and Xbox. The main addition was the Easy Operation mode, which allowed you to utilise special attacks with the flick of an analogue stick. The Xbox version also added support for 480p and online play.
Video Game Ad of the Day: Mega Man: Dr Wily’s Revenge
by Matt Keller on Mar.13, 2012, under Video Game Ad of the Day
It’s always Dr. Wily.
Mega Man: Dr Wily’s Revenge is the first of five outings on the original Game Boy. Capcom had intended to do an enhanced port of these five games for the Game Boy Advance in a pack called Mega Man Mania, but the original source code had been lost, and the attempt to rebuild the games from scratch was not pretty.
The Essential Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) Games
by Matt Keller on Mar.12, 2012, under The Essentials
The Nintendo Entertainment System is a difficult system when it comes to picking the best games. It’s one instance where the phrase “rose tinted specs†really comes into action. Many great video game series were started on the NES, but many of them do not hold up today. We have selected the absolute best games on the system to showcase in this article. If you want to start collecting games for the NES, these are ones that you absolutely must get.
The Essentials are games selected by the RGA team (along with a few highly knowledgable friends) and are the games we consider to be the best on the system – without question.
Our criteria for this list was simply that the game must be available in English, not just PAL. That does rule out a couple of quality Famicom only releases, but we will cover them in our upcoming NES Imports feature. Read on to find out our selections! (continue reading…)
Video Game Ad of the Day: Resident Evil 3: Nemesis
by Matt Keller on Mar.09, 2012, under Video Game Ad of the Day
If you could take Nemesis down with a knife, you are my hero.
Resident Evil 3: Nemesis was the last game in the series to appear on the PlayStation. Most of the game was spent getting away from the hulking bioweapon Nemesis, who could appear at random moments and cause you serious harm with strong physical attacks and/or his rocket launcher.
