Video Game Ad of the Day: Crazy Taxi 3
by Matt Keller on Aug.24, 2013, under Video Game Ad of the Day
Crazy Taxi 3 is the somewhat maligned final numbered entry in the Crazy Taxi series. Originally an Xbox exclusive, it was released to Arcades as the Chihiro driven Crazy Taxi: High Roller, with a PC release following years later. The game takes some of the maps from the first two games and throws in the new Vegas-inspired map, Glitter Oasis.
Castle of Illusion HD coming September 3, PSN version preorders get bonus Mega Drive version
by Matt Keller on Aug.17, 2013, under News
Sega has finally announced that Castle of Illusion HD will be hitting the PlayStation Store on September 3, with the Xbox Live Arcade version to follow on September 4.
As an added incentive, Sega will be giving away the Mega Drive version of Castle of Illusion with digital preorders on the PlayStation Store. It is our understanding that this will be the only way to get the classic version of the game, as plans have not been announced for a separate release.
A local price for the PSN version has not been revealed (it is £9.99 / €12.99 / $US14.99 elsewhere), but it will set you back 1200 Microsoft Points on Xbox Live.
Video Game Ad of the Day: Jet Set Radio Future
by Matt Keller on Aug.15, 2013, under Video Game Ad of the Day
After Sega discontinued the Dreamcast, they spread their development efforts across the competing consoles. One of the titles the Xbox got was Jet Set Radio Future, a sequel to the cult hit Jet Set Radio. It’s a little bit different from the original, offering way bigger stages and a little less emphasis on tagging.

by Charly on Aug.13, 2013, under News
Bare Knuckle, or Streets of Rage as it is known here in the West, is set for a 3D Classics release on the Nintendo 3DS eShop in Japan.
3D Streets of Rage (3D Bare Knuckle) will include local co-op, 3D graphics and a newly added One Hit Deathblow Mode, were enemies are killed in a single hit.
The game comes out on August 21 and will cost players 600 yen. There is no word on a western release yet, but we suppose it is only as matter of time.

See Sonic the Hedgehog’s Green Hill Zone in first person
by Charly on Jul.31, 2013, under News
Ever play through Sonic the Hedgehog on the Sega Mega Drive and think to yourself ‘I wonder what this looks like from Sonic’s perspective’? Well, check out the above video and you’ll soon know.
Machinima have released a video of a first person 3D Green Hill Zone Act 1 – movement is a tad wonky and speed is lacking, but it certainly looks the part. This isn’t the first such video though, YouTuber AngusFilms1 created a first person 3D version of this very level a couple of years ago, which you can take a look at here. It’s a speedier run, but lacks the environmental detail present in the before mentioned video.

The Famicom and SG-1000 are 30
by Matt Keller on Jul.16, 2013, under News
30 years ago today, two consoles were released in Japan; Sega’s SG-1000 and Nintendo’s Family Computer, or Famicom. Guess which one is getting the bulk of the attention?
If you answered Famicom, you are correct. Nintendo’s console took Japan by storm, and 3 years later revitalised a depressed console market in America as the Nintendo Entertainment System. The system would go on to bring us great games such as Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda, Metroid, Castlevania and many more.
The impact of the SG-1000 should not be ignored, however. Sega’s first home console effort, while not the smashing success the Famicom was, did well enough to encourage the arcade giant to continue to pursue home console development. Without it, there would be no Master System, Mega Drive, Saturn or Dreamcast.
Happy birthday, you old consoles!
It’s time to make some crazy money on your Android with a port of Crazy Taxi
by Matt Keller on Jul.13, 2013, under News
Sega has been dragging its heels a bit on getting Crazy Taxi out for the Android, but you can grab it now from the Google Play store for $AU5.44.
There is at least one valid reason for this delay – Sega has added much needed controller support to this version, so you don’t have to wrestle ghastly touchscreen controls.
This version also features the original soundtrack from Bad Religion and The Offspring that has been missing from other recent ports.
Video Game Ad of the Day: Game Gear TV Tuner
by Matt Keller on Jun.26, 2013, under Video Game Ad of the Day
The Game Gear TV Tuner is exactly what it says on the tin: a peripheral that lets you watch TV on your Game Gear. Well, it did – unless you’re living in one of the few regions of Australia where analogue TV is still broadcast, the device is pretty much useless now. Still, it was a neat idea.
Is Shinobi III coming to 3DS eShop?
by Charly on Jun.25, 2013, under News
Nintendo Everything recently spied a PEGI rating for Shinobi III. It looks like Sega are set to re-release Shinobi III: Return of the Ninja Master, originally released in 1993 on the Sega Mega Drive, as a 3D Classic for the Nintendo 3DS eShop.
Shinobi III is well loved, so I’m sure many fans will be happy to see the game alongside Ecco the Dolphin and Galaxy Force II which were announced this week as part of Sega’s second wave of 3D Classics.

by Charly on Jun.21, 2013, under News
It seems to be a week of Sonic specials! You can nab a bunch of Sonic (and some other Sega titles) on Xbox Live live on the cheap at the moment, and now you can get you fill of cheap Sonic games on iOS and Android too.
Various Sonic games are AU$0.99 on the App Store and AU$1.08 on the Google Play Store – titles include Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic CD, Sonic Spinball, Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode I, Sonic the Hedghog 4: Episode II, Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing, and more. It even looks like some other Sega titles are available for cheap too, but they might always be that price.
So, why all the Sonic specials? Sonic is 22 on June 23. Thanks Sonic, now I feel old.
