Starting the new year off with a bang with this ad for the North American release of House of the Dead 2, which was stripped of its light-gun support in that particular version due to post Columbine anxiety. No such alteration was made to the PAL or Japanese releases.
Video Game Ad of the Day: Virtua Cop (Virtua Squad)

In 1996 and 1997, Sega decided to port 3D accelerated versions of some of their recent big hit arcade games to the PC. One such game was Virtua Cop, which was also released in some places as Virtua Squad. Of course, there was no light gun peripheral for Virtua Cop, so it lost some of the magic, but the mouse proved to be a pretty good substitute.

After Burner is one of Sega’s most popular arcade games, mostly owing to its fantastic cabinet rather than the game itself. The X68000 version is probably the best of the home ports prior to the Saturn one.
Rumour: Shenmue HD exists and Sega has been sitting on it for a year

Online magazine Gamerzines has reported that a source close to Sega has suggested that the company has been working on HD ports of Shenmue and Shenmue II for quite some time.
Not only that, but both games are finished and Sega has been sitting on them until they have a clearer picture of the future of the Shenmue series – which probably means whether or not the company is willing to do Shenmue III.
I’ll believe it when I see it.
