Complete copy of Air Raid emerges, is for sale
by Matt Keller on Oct.27, 2012, under Auction Watch, News
Air Raid is the most sought after game for Atari 2600 collectors. Released in limited quantities in 1984 by Men-A-Vision, the sky blue T-shaped cartridge can easily fetch several thousand dollars at auction – a boxed copy sold several years back for $US31,600+. To date, the manual for the game had never been seen.
That was until earlier this week, when a father and daughter found a complete copy of the game in their loft. The father worked for a convenience store which sold Atari games in the early 1980s, and was given a copy of the game by a sales rep. The father put the game in storage until hearing the price that the last copy sold for. Convinced that he still had the game, father and daughter searched high and low for the game.
The game is currently listed for auction on GameGavel, and is due to end on November 4th.
Got a spare million? Buy this signed copy of MD Tetris
by Matt Keller on Jul.15, 2011, under News
The Mega Drive version of Tetris is quite possibly the rarest retail release on the system. It is estimated that only 10 copies are in the wild. The game was quickly pulled after it was discovered that Sega did not actually have the rights to make the game, or something along those lines.
One of those copies has popped up on eBay. Difference is that this one is signed by Tetris creator Alexei Pazhitnov. Seller wants a million bucks for it, despite stating that he “only” paid 11,000 euros for it.
Is a Pazhitnov signature really worth that much, considering he is alive, well and accessible?
