A novel based on the story of PlayStation 2 cult-classic ICO is being released in the USA next week by Viz Media.

ICO: Castle in the Mist, written by Miyuki Miyabe, will be available August 16 for $US15.99. It’ll be published under Viz’s Haikasoru imprint.

The US PSBlog has revealed that the upcoming ICO and Shadow of the Colossus HD collection will be coming with a couple of extra features.

When you purchase the game in September, you’ll receive downloadable vouchers for premium XMB themes for both ICO and Shadow of the Colossus. On the disc there will be “a ton” of exclusive video content from ICO, Shadow of the Colossus and The Last Guardian. No word yet on whether a demo for The Last Guardian is planned, though.

Looking forward to the upcoming HD collection.

ICO is considered to be one of the best games on the PlayStation 2, in spite of the fact it was not particularly popular when it was released. The game was originally in development for the PSX, but was shifted to the PS2 late in development. A HD collection featuring ICO and its pseudo sequel Shadow of the Colossus is due in September. This ad is for the Australian release of the game.
