Video Game Ad of the Day: Super Smash TV

Big money! Big prizes! I love it!
Super Smash TV was the name given to the 16-bit ports of Midway’s arcade hit Smash TV. This ad is for the Probe-developed Mega Drive/Genesis version, but it’s worth nothing that the Super Nintendo version of the game was developed here in Australia by the late Beam Software. Both versions were published by Acclaim. Like the ad suggests, the game is pretty damn difficult, but it’s all in good fun.

“Classics” from a bygone era.
Yep, that’s right. Acclaim attempted to capitalise on many of the games they published and licensed by producing LCD versions of them.
Video Game Ad of the Day: Kwirk

How about something a little different
Kwirk was a maze/puzzle game released by Acclaim for the Game Boy when the console was in its infancy. As a result, the game became something of a hit – enough to prompt Acclaim to use the character in a cartoon called The Power Team (and later Acclaim Masters), which was basically a knock off of Captain N: The Game Master, but only featuring characters that appeared in Acclaim video games. Freaky.
