The original Halo is still far and away the best entry in the series. Originally intended to be a real-time strategy game for the Mac, Halo underwent a huge number of changes during its development. The purchase of Halo and Bungie proved to be the boost Microsoft needed to get the Xbox console off the ground.
343 Industries working on Halo 2 Anniversary Edition?

The latest issue of Official Xbox Magazine UK has reported a rumour that 343 Industries is working away at a HD remake of Halo 2, following on from the success of last year’s release of Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary Edition.
Given that the 10th anniversary of Halo 2 isn’t until 2014, I wouldn’t expect to hear much for now. One would hope that the game’s multiplayer comes across intact, rather than merely being a map pack for Halo Reach since Halo 2‘s single player is arguably the weakest in the series.
Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary gets the orchestral treatment

Perhaps the only non-Kinect project Microsoft announced back at E3 was Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary edition, a tarted up version of the game that put the Xbox on the map.
Today, Pyramind Studios announced that they will be working with Microsoft and 343 Industries to produce the game’s soundtrack, which will be fully orchestrated. (continue reading…)
