Video Game Ad of the Day: Jet Force Gemini
by Matt Keller on Dec.02, 2012, under Video Game Ad of the Day
Jet Force Gemini is one of Rare’s great games of the Nintendo 64 era. Although it wasn’t quite as successful as other efforts, the game did a great job of blending exploration and third person shooting action. Shame about the game-padding Tribal hunt, though.
Video Game Ad of the Day: Bionic Commando
by Matt Keller on Dec.01, 2012, under Video Game Ad of the Day
The NES version of Bionic Commando is best remembered for being completely different (and superior) to the arcade original thanks to its tightly designed action, superior swing mechanics and more interesting level design.
Video Game Ad of the Day: BioForge Plus
by Matt Keller on Nov.30, 2012, under Video Game Ad of the Day
It seems crazy now, but often in the past, video games would make it to marketing stage and be cancelled before release. BioForge Plus was one such game. It was an updated re-release of BioForge which would offer post game expansion content that would continue the story. It was cancelled in a whirlwind wave of cost cutting across Origin in 1995.
Video Game Ad of the Day: Metal Warriors

Konami and LucasArts had a brief partnership in the 16-bit days which yielded a few decent games. Most people know of Zombies Ate My Neighbours, but Metal Warriors was overlooked by audiences at the time – their loss. It’s a lot like Cybernator – another great SNES mech-based action-platformer published by Konami, although the games have nothing to do with each other.

Remove the “S” from the title and you’ll have a pretty fitting description of American McGee Presents Scrapland.
Video Game Ad of the Day: ECW Anarchy Rulz
by Matt Keller on Nov.28, 2012, under Video Game Ad of the Day
Let’s be frank: the Acclaim wrestling games of the 5th generation of consoles were garbage with their bullshit fifty billion button sequences for basic moves. ECW Anarchy Rulz was the last of these games, and copped the brunt of critic’s displeasure for the previous games (which were actually highly rated at the time).
Video Game Ad of the Day: Spider-Man and Venom: Maximum Carnage
by Matt Keller on Nov.27, 2012, under Video Game Ad of the Day
Spider-Man and Venom: Maximum Carnage is a beat ’em up for the Mega Drive and SNES based on the 1994 comic book crossover event of the same name where Spider-Man and Venom team up to fight a new symbiote called Carnage. The Japanese Mega Drive version, which is for all intents and purpose identical to every other version, is one of the rarest and most expensive Mega Drive games.

Widely heralded as one of the finest RPGs of all time, Chrono Trigger is an adventure that takes place across the fabric of time, with memorable characters, fantastic graphics, an excellent battle system and one of the greatest soundtracks ever composed.

by Matt Keller on Nov.24, 2012, under Video Game Ad of the Day
In the 32-bit era, there were a shit ton of Formula 1 games, and FIA was happy to let anyone have access to the official license. Monaco Grand Prix wasn’t the best of the bunch, but it was competent.
